Brentford

Public realm and architectural lighting design, 2013-2014

New cladding to the disused sheds at Brentford Lock open up the spaces and celebrate the industrial heritage and natural qualities of the canal. After dark, these volumes are realised through indirect illumination to the permeable, decorative facade. Further along the towpath, feature lighting beneath the A4 overbridge extends the hours of use and enhances the perception of safety. A reflected image of the bridge structure in the still water is created.

Both schemes were subject to extensive photometric testing and optical control to minimise impact on the wildlife corridor.
