Public realm lighting design, ongoing.
The section of the north bank beneath Blackfrairs bridge forms part of the Riverside Walk Enhancement strategy area. The proposals aim to make a joyful public realm intervention along an underused section of the riverside, connecting people to the overlooked natural and historic aspects of the place. The “River of Wells” installation is formed of hexagonal structures with reflective surfaces that dapple daylight and artificial light onto the underside of the bridge, evoking the reflections of sunlight on the river.
Studio Dekka are working with Natasha Reid and the fabricator on the design of bespoke columns and integrated luminaires, which will be controlled to produce poetic transitions between light and dark, warm and cool.
